11 Jan 2010For your average bride, the typical checklist includes a pasta bar, something blue, baby’s breath, and a champagne toast.
For Bevin Bering Dubrowski, her checklist included the following: avocado bar, live mariachi band, plastic sunglasses… and… oh yeah, hundreds of flourescent tube lights. (Every girl dreams about flourescent tube lights at their wedding reception, right?) Obviously, Bevin is anything but “every” bride.
The evening began at the Chapel of St. Basil, where 285 guests looked on as Bevin and Dan tied the knot. Once the ceremony concluded, guests were ushered into a nearby rose garden to enjoy live mariachi music and authentic Mexican juices. The suspense built quickly as guests began to ask questions. “Where will the reception take place?” “Where is the alcohol!?” It was all part of the plan. Little did they know that they were in for the wedding reception of the year!
Soon the mariachi began marching down the streets of Houston. Guests followed in suspense until they arrived at the Menil Collection. Palomas in hand, each guest tasted savory bites and mingled throughout thousands of years worth of history and creative artwork.
An hour later the mariachi band poured into the Menil… and exited the back door just as quickly as they had entered! Not knowing what else to do, guests dropped their drinks and were led down a candlelit sidewalk to the final destination of the evening. The looks on their faces (and of the bride and groom) when they marched through the door of Richmond Hall were priceless.
Many thanks to Bergner and Johnson, Belle of the Ball Events and Richard Brown Orchestra for working so closely with everyone at A Fare to make this night a huge success! Lastly, a huge thank you to David Jones Photography for sending A Fare Extraordinaire these amazing food and detail photos!
