Isn’t technology fabulous?  What would we do without it?  Well, according to Karen, who founded AFE in 1985, it went a little bit like this:

  • Buy stamps.
  • Lick envelopes.
  • Use typewriters.
  • Check our spelling with real, tangible dictionaries.
  • Look up contact info in phone books.
  • Talk on a phone that actually has a CORD.  (I know, the idea is horrifying!)

Luckily for all of us, it’s not 1985 anymore.  We are rapidly approaching our 25th anniversary and have grown from a tiny kitchen to Houston’s #1 privately owned catering company.  How do the event producers, production team, staffing department and chefs keep up with literally hundreds of events and clients that each change every single day?  We call, we text, we email.  We research on google.   We even learned how to log in to our work computers from home.  I’m doing it right now!  I am snuggled into my own bed, sipping prosecco and wrapped in a bathrobe.   (Side note:  This is one of the reasons I adore my job!)

It’s so true, A Fare Extraordinaire has come a long way since the 80s!  We spent the summer rebranding, building a website and even redecorating the office.  We spent the winter working our tails off to execute over 100 fabulous parties in the 31 days of December.  Alas, it’s STILL not enough.  We constantly want more.  We feel the need to move faster and faster… to be not one step, but ten steps ahead of the game.  We need to accomplish more in less time.

So, behold our blog!  It’s the next step, and in our opinion, it’s overdue.  Now you can follow us every step of the way.  See where we get our ideas, what inspires us, and how we translate it into the perfect party.  It’s like reality party planning!  Tune in.  Check in every few days.  It’s going to be a blast.
