20 Apr 2010Sunday we got the chance to participate in the inaugural Ambassador Family Reach-Out Day for Texas Children’s Hospital. And although it tried, we did NOT let the downpour of rain ruin our fun out at the Houston Arboretum! Check out how we won the battle…

To counteract the gloomy clouds, we decorated the day with these fabulous bright ribbon treatments, funky tablecloths and spring flowers. Rain: 0. A Fare Extraordinaire: 1.

To distract the kid-os from their soaking wet raincoats, activities such as face painting, a trackless train, a petting zoo and story time were set up all over the Arboretum grounds. PLUS to put a smile on everyone’s face, we pulled them back to their childhood with favorites like ants on a log and dirt n’ worms! Rain: 0. A Fare Extraordinaire: 2.

The fact that our staff was dressed like bugs didn’t hurt either! Rain: 0. A Fare Extraordinaire: 3.

A Fare Extraordinaire is the clear winner. I must say, however, the true champions of the day were all the families who came out to participate. Loads of children’s books and painted pots (created that day!) were donated to Texas Children’s five Project Medical Homes, where many of Houston’s indigent children receive much needed medical care.
We’re glad we could be a part of such a special day! Rain or shine…
